Hockey team depart for natl junior tourney

SHILLONG: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, along with Meghalaya State Hockey Association (MSHA), held a send-off ceremony on Monday for the 16-member squad from Vilco Secondary School, Pynthorbah, who will represent Meghalaya in the 31st Nehru Sub-Junior Hockey Tournament (Boys), which will be held in New Delhi from October 18-31.

The squad, led by coach Robin Chyne and manager Mark A Mukhim, left for Delhi on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, MSHA president Ampareen Lyngdoh urged the boys to give their best shot in the event.

Squad: Alexy Lamin, Aman Barbase, Aridame Marbaniang, Boltesar Kharmuti, Bresstar Jyrwa, Damutlang Marwein, Ferdinand Kharmuti, Jason G Kharir, Richard Marboh, Richmond Kharmuti, Roshan Mizar, Sanjoy Kharmuti, Stevenson Lamo, Sibastian Marboh, Sourav Das, Albert Jyrwa.
