3 held for unauthorised supply of fuel to detained US vessel

Tuticorin: The ‘Q’ Branch CID of Tamil Nadu, police probing the ingression of a United States-based vessel with heavily armed private security guards on board into Indian territorial waters, on Saturday detained three people for illegally supplying fuel to the vessel. As the crew members of the vessel ‘Seaman Guard Ohio’ ran out of fuel, they had allegedly purchased 1500 litres of diesel from a shipping agent through local fishermen, after they intruded into Indian waters without informing the port authorities, police said. Based on a detailed investigation, the Q branch police have taken into custody three for supplying unauthorised fuel to the vessel, which amounts to smuggling. The crew members were already facing a case under various Sections, including Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel (Regulation of Supply, Distribution and Prevention of Malpractices) Order 2005, Essential Commodities Act 1955. 4 minors among 13 held for killing Sikh youth

Mumbai: Thirteen persons, including four minors, were on Saturday arrested by Palghar Police in the neighbouring Thane district for their alleged involvement in the brutal killing of a 21-year-old Sikh businessman on October 12. According to police, a night patrolling team recovered the body of the youth from a drain near Natraj Bar, Devisha Road in Palghar late night on October 12. The deceased was identified as Daljit Singh Kuldeep Singh Deewan alias Mickey, a chemical trader from Mumbai, who had come to Palghar for business and was staying in a local lodge since the last ten days. As per a complaint registered by Mickey’s friend Jorwara Singh, they had gone for dinner at a local restaurant. When they stepped out of the restaurant, a group of 12 to 14 youngsters allegedly picked up a quarrel with Mickey. The heated exchange of words took a violent turn when the mob started raining punches and blows on Mickey, who collapsed on spot. The accused then dumped his body in a nearby drain and fled in a pick-up jeep. Mickey was rushed to the government hospital where he was declared dead before admission. (UNI)

CISF jawan attempts suicide

at Pune airport

Pune: A jawan of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) attempted to commit suicide, allegedly by shooting himself from his service revolver, at the Pune Airport Station on Saturday. The jawan, identified as B D Veer (30), was on duty at the arrival gate of Lohegaon airport on Saturday morning when he shot himself on his chest. He was admitted to a private hospital where his condition is stated to be in danger, police said. Senior police officer, DG Nukutkar, of Airport police station told UNI that the reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained since Veer is not in a condition to speak. “We will record his statement by tomorrow,” he added. Police file charge sheet on Kerala MP, seven others

Kannur: Police filed a charge sheet against Congress MP K Sudhakaran and seven other party leaders in connection with the incidents at Valapattanam Police Station last year. The charge sheet was filed before the Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate-II. On October 31,2012, police arrested a Congress loyalist Kallikodan Raghesh and allegedly kept him in lock-up in under garments. Meanwhile, Sudhakaran rushed to the police station and staged a sit-in there demanding his release. Later, the issue turned out into a huge political row with poster wars launched against Home Minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan and Congress factions led by K Sudhakaran. (UNI)
