Outfit claims to have left evidence of foreign currency worth lakhs
TURA: The ANVC-B has reiterated its claims of a violent clash with the GNLA in Rongmin Chiring of South Garo Hills and has refused to accept the police version about shooting of an empty jhum hut and a dog.
The ANVC-B issued a clarification through Doang D Shira saying that the police version of the incident is not correct.
“Police reached a village near the attack after 48 hours. They did not take things seriously and did not even go to the site of the attack. We left evidence in the site with several lakhs of fake currency notes, three mobile sets with Bangladesh SIM cards which could provide crucial lead,” claimed Doang Shira.
The ANVC-B claimed that the mobile phones with Bangladesh SIM cards had text messages of instructions, targets and contact including a memory card of prominent leaders and videos of military training.
It may be mentioned that Meghalaya Police is said to have sent a team to the site and came across nothing more than an empty jhum hut damaged by firing and one injured dog was also recovered from the area.
The police investigation dismissed the claims of the ANVC-B about any encounter and the investigation has instead indicated that it was a staged incident in which militants from the same group are accused of planting an old wireless set and a few empty ammunition shells to blame a rival outfit.
The ANVC-B, on the other hand, claims that Forest department personnel posted in the area would vouch for their claim that gunfire did take place at the site.
The outfit has also accused the police of going soft on its rival, the GNLA, and reiterated its earlier warning that there is a mole (informer) within the police department which is hampering the police operations against the GNLA.
