Lok Adalat

The National Lok Adalat will be held for the state of Meghalaya at the High Court of Meghalaya, all district courts, all sub divisional courts and all the district council courts from 10 am on November 25. Separate benches have also been constituted for bank cases at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills and Eldorado Guest House, Dhankheti.

lThe Meghalaya state legal service Authority in collaboration with the district Administration Nongstoin will organize the National Lok Adalat at Deputy Commissioner Office on November 25 from 9.00am onwards in order to settle the long pending compoundable cases by way of amicable compromise.

Training

All Community Transformation Society will organize three-day “Food and Fruits Preservation” training from November 25-27 for unemployed youths. The training will be held at the office hall of the organisation for two days while the fruit preservation centre of horticulture, Lower Risa Colony will host the training programme for a day.

Seminar

A two-day national seminar on Politics of Environment began at the Lady Keane College here on Thursday. The seminar was inaugurated by Principal Secretary, Agriculture Department, P Kharkongor. The objective of the seminar is to identify shortcomings in legislation, policies and implementing mechanism causing environmental degradation and to establish the detrimental impact of development on environment. The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Notice

The Department of Posts, Government of India-Meghalaya Division has informed that the list of selected candidates for Direct Recruitment of Postal Assistant for the year 2011 and 2012 have been published and the same is being displayed in the notice board of the office.

Campaign

The Meghalaya State Commission for Women will observe the International Campaign protesting violence against women and girls from November 25 till December 10. The Commission will hold a rally in Shillong on November 25 from Madan Iewrynghep at 11am and will culminate at State Central Library Auditorium with a purpose to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence at the same time, to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden.
