SHILLONG: A patient, who was to be operated upon at Nazareth Hospital on Thursday, had a harrowing time after he was asked to come out of the operation theater after sending almost one and half hour there.

Annoyed and humiliated over the sorry state of affairs, the parents sought the patient’s discharge from the hospital.

The patient Hedrian Sangma (22), son of former legislator John Manner Marak, was admitted at the Hospital on Wednesday morning.

“It was at 12. 15 pm today that my son was taken to the operation theater to remove the iron plates from his leg. However, to our surprise he was sent back by saying that all those who were at the operation theater were busy”, Marak alleged.

According to Marak, his son was number three in line to be operated upon. Marak said he was told to wait when asked the reason why his son was brought back.

“I asked the concerned persons on duty at 3 pm and again at 5 pm to know about the status of operation, but did not get any satisfactory reply which compelled us to get a discharge of the patient to escape from the torture”, Marak said

When contacted, the hospital authorities did not return the calls.
