Opp MPF to meet Guv on Monday
SHILLONG: A delegation of the Meghalaya People’s Front (MPF), a conglomerate of Opposition parties in the State, would meet Governor Dr KK Paul on Monday to apprise him on the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.
“We would be meeting the Governor on Monday to brief him on the current security scenario in the State,” MPF spokesperson and UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh said on Friday.
He informed that the delegation would consist of all legislators who are part of the MPF.
“As responsible opposition, we feel that it is our primary duty to apprise him of the situation prevailing in both Khasi and Garo Hills,” Lyngdoh said.
The Opposition has been severely critical of the ruling MUA-II Government for not reaching out to the agitating pressure groups to end the ongoing impasse over the demand for introduction of ILP in the State.
The Opposition has also demanded for a special session of the State Assembly to discuss the proposed Tenancy Act.
