Hyderabad: The Bar Council of India (BCI) on Saturday requested the Press Council of India (PCI) to recommend stern action against Tarun Tejpal for all his alleged illegal act against a woman journalist.

In a letter, addressed to Mr Justice (Retd) Markandeya Katju, copy of which was released to media here, BCI and PCI member N Ramachandra Rao said the recent disclosure against Mr Tajpal’s involment in the sexual abuse of his own colleague and allegation of alleged rape had shocked the entire nation.

Tejpal, who claimed himself to be crusader against corruption and exposing scams, was himself indulging in such heinous and shameful acts against his own colleague. It was not only to be condemned, but also a strong legal action was required against him, he said.

Mr Rao said the PCI being the statutory and quasi judicial body for the press in India has to react in this regard. The entire journalist fraternity in the country had been condemning this incident with one voice. (UNI)
