State to set up 22 border haats

Shillong: The State Government has proposed to set up 22 border haats along the Indo-Bangladesh border with an aim to uplift the economic and living standards of the people living at the edge of the country, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said on Thursday. “We have submitted a proposal in this regard,” Dr Sangma said while addressing the valedictory function of the policy meet on economic and transport development in border areas in Southeastern Asia here.
