SHILLONG: New Friends Union (NFU) will face Guwahati Club in the final of the Shillong Cricket Association’s Platinum Jubilee Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament after the two teams won their semifinals on Friday.
NFU defeated Kolkata Club by just nine runs in a close contest.
Kolkata won the toss and put NFU in to bat first.
The team from Shillong made 141/6 in 20 overs, with Man-of-the-Match Gautam Raghuwanshi making 85 off 67 balls. Yogesh Singh claimed two wickets.
In reply, Kolkata Club made 132/7, falling short by nine runs. Subhash Kumar scored 41 runs, while Arjun KC took three wickets.
In the second semifinal, Guwahati Club beat Champ CC Manipur by 45 runs in a low-scoring encounter.
Choosing to bat first, Guwahati made 118/9 in their allotted overs. Kennedy Singh bagged four wickets for Manipur.
However, Guwahati’s bowlers did even better, bundling Manipur out for just 73 in 16.3 overs. Parviz Aziz took four wickets and he was named Man-of-the-Match.
