Purno’s accusations
SHILLONG: A day after the NPP leader Purno Sangma flayed West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi for not remaining in station, the Deputy Commissioner has now decided to write to the Chief Secretary seeking his protection and guidance requesting him to shield officers from unjust criticism as they go about performing their duties.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Pravin Bakshi denied the allegations saying that since the time he handed over charge to the new Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills, he never visited the district, adding more amusingly Chief Minister himself did not visit Williamnagar these couple of days.
He added that his last visit to Ampati was a couple of months back when the district administration of West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills jointly hosted the hugely successful Green Tour Cycle Marathon from Tura to Ampati with flag off in Tura and finish in Ampati .
He clarified that On December 9, he was participating in the grand, solemn and meaningful start to the Ahaia -2013 Winter Festival which started off with a stupendous show of solidarity of the people of Tura for one another and their commitment to bring peace .
“I joined them in this great cause and later again joined them as their heads bowed in prayer lead by leaders of the various churches of Tura,” Bakshi said while adding that On December 10 , he travelled to Tikrikilla starting at 7:30 am in the morning and devoted the whole day to participate in the grand and memorable 120 Drums Wangala celebration with the dozen Wangala troupes of the some of the most backward villages for the cause of promotion of their indigenous culture and traditions and was a proud spectator to their skills which are no less than any other part of the region .
“On 11th , 12th and 13th December I duly attended office and then participated in the evening programmes which were again spectacular and inspiring events inviting active participation of people and all communities,” he said adding that December 14 being a Saturday was still a working day for them as their office was open for most part of the day with them attending to urgent administrative matters.
