Grade-IV candidates call off hunger strike

SHILLONG: The Association of Qualified Candidates, Grade-IV-2011, East Khasi Hills has decided to call off its indefinite hunger strike after the State Government extended the validity of the merit list by another six months.
The validity of the merit list was supposed to end on January 29.
Informing this here on Friday, association secretary, Skhemborlang Pyngrope while welcoming the response of the Government, asserted that their demand for extension would stand as long as all the qualified candidates are not given appointment.
110 of the total 331 qualified candidates are still awaiting appointment.
