SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has virtually ruled out the alleged nexus between politicians and militant outfits in Garo Hills by saying that no evidence has been found till date to substantiate the allegation.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Dr Sangma said “Government has already issued the necessary instructions to the various law enforcing agencies to investigate this matter.”
The Chief Minister said that till date there is no evidence to prove this charge.
Reacting strongly to the statement made by ANVC (B) that its chairman was very close to the Chief Minister, Dr Sangma said that he expected the media persons to verify the authenticity of such statements from him before publishing.
“I am the only Chief Minister who does not talk to any militant outfit. Even on the process of negotiation and discussion I have not given a single appointment to these people instead appointed interlocutor to hold talks with them,” Chief Minister said.
When asked about the status of the proposed peace agreement with ANVC, he said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought clarifications on certain para and clause of the text settlement.
“The political department is working on it and necessary communication would be passed to the MHA,” Chief Minister said.
