SHILLONG: Impressed with Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi said that if he ever wants to be a politician he would want to be like the former.
Speaking highly of the Meghalaya Chief Minister during the India Today Mind Rocks Youth Summit 2013 held at the State Convention Centre auditorium on Monday, Oberoi said that he had an opportunity to spend some time with Sangma and the latter came across as a progressive politician who also can sing.
“Dr Sangma is a progressive politician and a “rock star chief minister,” Oberoi said. He also gave a talk on ‘Making it Big in Bollywood’ and shared his experiences – the success and failures he encountered in his 10 years of journey as an actor.
He said, “The thing that I have learnt in my life, from the ups and downs and the hits and the flops, is that never take success to your head and failure to your heart. You have to realize that success is not permanent and failure isn’t either. You have to find the balance between the two.”
Talking about his stay here the Bollywood star said “Shillong is really a cool place to be.”
He also narrated his experience at the Mercy Home where he danced and “exchanged kisses” with a 105-year-old lady.
“I met a pretty lady. We danced together and also got some kisses too from her (pointing to his cheeks). She was 105 years old and being able to dance and smile at her age… it’s an incredible thing to take back home,” he said.
Later, Dr Sangma sang Eddie Rabbit’s evergreen favourite ‘Room at the top of the stairs’ and Jingle bells as Oberoi swayed and danced to the applause of the crowd.
