Followers gather to celebrate 152nd Birth anniversary

SHILLONG: On the occasion of the 152nd birthday celebration of Swami Vivekananda and National Youth Day, the Ramakrishna Mission Shillong organized a gathering at its Vivekananda Cultural Centre(RKMVCC), Quinton Road here on Sunday.

The gathering was addressed by Swami Achyuteshanandaji Maharaj, secretary Ramakrishna Mission Shillong, who urged the youth of the State, irrespective of faith and religion, to be inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

Besides the faculty members of the Computer Training Unit, Swami Ekabobhananda and Vedasaranandaji Maharaj, monks of the order also spoke on the occasion.

The three day programme will conclude on Monday with a grand celebration at RKMVCC from 10 am onwards in the presence of K K Paul, Governor of Meghalaya, Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister of Urban Affairs among other dignitaries.

In Laban the members of Sarada Mahila Samity gathered at the place where Vivekananda stayed during his Shillong visit in 1901. They offered floral tribute to Swami and recollected his life and teachings. The members also presented patriotic songs on the occasion.
