Meghalaya’s contribution to Statue Of Unity

SHILLONG: The Statue Of Unity, Meghalaya Unit, on Tuesday met under Shibun Lyngdoh, Convener of Meghalaya Unit of SOU, attended by around fifty members.

Statue of Unity is a dream project of Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi which is aimed at constructing the world’s biggest statue in honour of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

The meeting unanimously decided that the SOU Meghalaya Unit will convene meetings in all the constituencies to collect iron and mud which will be send to Gujarat to be included for the construction of the statue. The iron and mud will be sent to Gujarat within March 28.

The meeting also elected district in charges of the SOU which include IJ Dameki Paswett from West Jaintia Hills, Duruth Majaw from Ri Bhoi, DD Sohphoh from West Khasi Hills, Ehkupar Nongrum from Shillong City, Reston Myrthong from South West Khasi Hills and Fairly Berth Kharrngi from East Khasi Hills.
