Combine XI thump Raitong SC 6-2

SHILLONG: Six goals scored by six different players helped Combine XI FC (Pohkseh) register a thumping 6-2 victory over Raitong SC (Ri-Bhoi) in a second round match of the Meghalaya Open Football Championship at Malki Ground on Friday.
Vik Kharkongor gave Combine XI the lead in the 13th minute. Kerrionald Pyngrope added his goal in the 20th minute before Henry Marboh made it 3-0 in the 24th.
There were then three goals in as many minutes as Baskhem Shanpro (30th) and Chesterfield Nongdhar (32nd) sandwiched the first goal by Raitong, which was scored by Remdor Makri (31st). Kevin Nongkynrih made it 6-1 in the 42nd minute, while Orester Wahlang reduced the margin of defeat, scoring for Raitong just after an hour’s play.
The first match of the day had fewer goals but was a closer affair between Jaiaw Mihngi FC and Wanderers FC (Laban).
Wanderers FC came through as 2-1 winners.
Robert Nongrum put the winners ahead in the eighth minute, but Kevin Ranee equalised in the 47th for Jaiaw Mihngi. Boy Rani then scored the winning goal in the 61st minute.
