Opportunity for state students to study in Kerela

SHILLONG: B.Tech admissions to Kerala Engineering Colleges are restricted to students qualifying in the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination held by Government of Kerala but now Shillong will be a centre for the engineering entrance examination and the same will be held on April  21 and 22.
Addressing a press conference here in the city on Friday, officials from the Kerela Self Financing Engineering College Management’s Association said that earlier Cochin University of science and technology has conducted the entrance examination for outside state students and thousands of students from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttaranchal used to attempt for this entrance exam.
According to officials, Kerala Government Entrance Commissioner is directly conducting the examination at Shillong and the universities are placed as one among the best 25 universities in India.
Reacting to a query, they said that they are expecting at least one thousand students from Shillong to take part in the entrance exam even as they said that the venue for the entrance would be finalized by the State authorities later.
It may be mentioned that Kerala has more than 55,000 engineering seats in more than 100 self financing colleges.
Asked about the security of students, the officials said that every step is being taken for the safety of students. They also claimed that fees structure is quite less since it has been fixed by the Government
The classes are taken in English, and all the colleges arrange special English classes in the initial stage itself for the benefit of students from Northern States.
The applicants are requested to submit online application through the website (www.cee-kerala.org) and students have to collect prospectus from the nearest head post office and enter into the site using the key number provided with the prospectus.
