SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited has once again resorted to load shedding.
For the past few weeks, it has been observed that power supply is cut off during the nights for a spell of 20 to 40 minutes.
The sudden decision of load shedding has come as a surprise to many since MeECL did not make an announcement before the public. The ongoing load shedding is certainly taking its toll on students who are preparing for their examinations.
Though scarcity of rainfall is believed to be one of the reasons for load shedding, residents of Meghalaya are forced to bear the brunt of power constraints despite the fact that the Myntdu Leshka Hydro Electric Project was commissioned last year.
When contacted, MeECL officials said that they are unaware about any such load shedding being conducted.
