JSU, JYF demand termination of illegal appointees

JOWAI: The Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) and the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) on Tuesday demanded immediate termination of all appointees who were absorbed in various departments under the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) thorough a ‘back-door’ policy.

Following a complaint lodged by the JSU and JYF on Monday with the JHADC Chief Executive Member MB Rymbai, a meeting was convened on Tuesday by the CEM which was attended by JYF president P Majaw, JSU president Rikut N Parien and others members of the two organisations, and some of the Executive Members of the Council.

“We met him (Rymbai) and demanded immediate termination of all those who have been appointed illegally,” the JYF president said after the meeting.

The JSU and the JYF alleged that the JHADC MDCs had illegally appointed many of their close relatives recently without any advertisement and interviews. “They (MDCs) just issued appointment letters secretly,” the organisations alleged.

Leaders of both organisations also informed that the JHADC CEM had no answers to the queries posed to him on the issue of illegal appointments and assured to provide all answers within three days.

According to the leaders of JSU and JYF, termination of all those who have been illegally appointed would open the doors for the unemployed educated youths who are deserving of the posts.

The two organisations also alleged that the JHADC had conducted a ‘secret’ interview on Tuesday despite strong protests. “The JHADC first appointed them and later conducted the interview as a mere formality,” the JYF president said.
