BHUBANESWAR: Ahead of the maiden rally by BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi here on February 11, Congress has planned a two-day Odisha visit by its vice-president and campaign committee chief Rahul Gandhi.

Gandhi is likely to address six public meetings at different places on February 9 and 10, party sources said, adding Rahul is unlikely to visit Bhubaneswar.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Jaydev Jena said detailed programmes for Rahulji’s visit was being worked out.

“Rahulji is likely to address three meetings in the coastal belt and nearby areas and another three in southern and western Odisha,” Jena said.

Claiming that Modi’s public meeting would have no impact on the people of the state, Jena said both Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have emotional attachments with the people of the eastern state.

Sources said Rahul Gandhi would address meetings at Salipur in Cuttack district, Duburi in Jajpur district, coal town of Talcher Khariar Road in Nuapada district, Bisam Katak in Rayagada district and Berhampur town in Ganjam district.

Rahul’s programme was being finalised keeping in view the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled on February 7, the sources added. (PTI)
