North East chess tourney concludes

SHILLONG: Y Dhanabir Singh of Manipur emerged as the champion of the 7th North East FIDE Rating Chess Tournament in Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh.
Second and third places were claimed by Madhab Sarma and S Rahul Singh, respectively, both from Assam.
Besides the main championship, there were also events for the U-9, U-13 and U-19, both boys and girls.
Manipur, Sikkim and Assam dominated the tournament overall, but there was at least one success from Meghalaya, with Gilleon Khanglah Ropmay coming third among the U-13 boys, according to a press release on Thursday.
