1 more case registered against Rymbai

JOWAI: The West Jaintia HIlls Police have registered yet another case against the JHADC chief MB Rymbai in connection with the Land Compensation scam at Khliehtyrshi village.

Herbert G Lyngdoh, SP, West Jaintia Hills, informed that the Jowai Police registered the case under section 406, 506 (34) of IPC against Rymbai, who is contesting February 24 district council election from Sohmynting- Khliehtyrshi constituency on a Congress ticket.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that West Jaintia Hills police are yet to take any concrete action against JHADC chief even as two FIRs have been filed against him after RTI findings indicated misappropriation crores of rupees by him, Our reporter adds.

Lyngdoh on Thursday said that the investigation into the matter was on and police would have to do a very detailed, comprehensive and thorough investigation into the matter.

A senior officer is looking into this high profile case, he said adding that “The law will take its own course”.

It may be mentioned that one Coming Pyrtuh and ten others lodged a complaint at Jowai Police Station saying that the CEM had illegally withdrew a sum amounting to Rs. 1.18 crore, as grants, gratuity relief etc., by showing the complainants as beneficiaries without their knowledge.

In another complaint, Dimon Phawa and two others of Khliehtyrshi village (WJH) lodged a complaint at Jowai PS that as per RTI findings, Rymbai, Dr. W. Ryngkhlem, ex-Headman, Kitbok Rymbai, Headman and Emdor Rymbai, Chairman of Khliehtyrshi Village, have misappropriated the land compensation money amounting to Rs. 1,15,05,947.90.

Meanwhile, acting on a complaint lodged by 11 ‘beneficiaries’ of a scam, West Jaintia HIlls Police earlier registered a case against the JHADC chief.

“We have registered a case under section 464, 468, 469. 420. 409 and 500 of IPC,” a senior police official had said on Wednesday.
