SHILLONG: Two unidentified bodies of a male and a female were recovered from different parts of the district on Sunday.
The unidentified female body (70) was recovered from an abandoned house at Polo Bazar here on Sunday morning. Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem said that there was no injury mark on the body but police could not “rule out anything at the moment.” The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Another unidentified decomposed male body (45/50) was recovered from a drain at Mawkhanu, Shillong by-pass (EKH) the same day.
Syiem said that the body was more than a month old and it is difficult to recognize it. “The skeletal remains would be sent for DNA analysis,” the SP (City) said.
The police have also checked the missing persons report list but could find no reference.  On Monday morning, police also recovered a male body (45/50) with multiple facial injuries from a drain at Lad Shyiap, Golf Link. Police suspect it to be a case of murder.
