UDP boost to Umsning Congress candidate

NONGPOH: In what can be termed as a shot in the arm for the Congress in Umsning, several local leaders and supporters of the UDP joined the national party putting themselves behind its candidate Dipul Ryntathiang.
The UDP defectors include adviser of the Mawlein Mawkhan sub circle, H Ryntathiang, president of the Mawlein unit, Andrian,  and secretary of the unit John Syiemlieh besides as amny as 100 supporters.
A meeting was held at Mawlein Mawkhan on Tuesday evening to officially welcome the new members to Congress ranks.
The former UDP leaders cited indifference to their concerns on the part of the local UDP candidate Donkupar Sumer as the reason behind the desertion of the regional party.
While welcoming the UDP leaders to Congress fold Dipul Ryntathiang said the Congress was happy to have the new members who have in the past worked untiringly to ensure victories of many representatives of the regional party in the earlier polls.
He also assured them that he would serve the constituency to the best of his abilities if voted to power.
On the alotment of ticket to him by the MPCC higher ups, Ryntathiang said that he was rewarded for being a loyal Congressman.
