EVM malfunction reported

SHILLONG: Two cases of malfunctioning were reported in the polling stations at East Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.

Official sources on Monday informed that one of the EVM which was defective was reported in one of the polling at Lamlyer under Nongkrem constituency.

“The problem was rectified immediately. There was no disruption to the voting,” Commissioner and Secretary in charge District Council Affairs (DCA) department Jopthiaw Lyngdoh said.

Meanwhile, South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Ripnar Lyngdoh informed that the EVM was reported to be defective in Mawsain village under Mawkyrwat constituency.

“The concerned sectoral officer immediately replaced the defective EVM with another spare EVM,” Lyngdoh said.
