Rastriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram launched

SHILLONG: Meghalaya is the second state in the country after Haryana to implement the Rastriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) following the official function held on Friday where Meghalaya Health Minister, A L Hek launched this programme at Hotel Pinewood.
The vision of RKSK is to make all adolescents in India to realize their full potential by making informed and responsible decisions related to their health and well being and by accessing the services and support they need to do so.
For this the support from the government and other institutions is needed, including the health, education, and labour sectors as well as adolescents’ families and communities.
While addressing the gathering, A L Hek informed that this program will
comprehensively address the health needs of the country’s adolescent population. He insisted that those involved in this programme need to frame out strategies so that it reaches the target group and also to work with dedication for the successful implementation of the scheme.
National Youth Policy
The department of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, East Garo Hills on Thursday launched the National Youth Policy 2014 and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan scheme District wise, in which the scheme was launched by the Sport & Youth Affair Minister Zenith Sangma who chaired the programme as the chief guest in a function which attended by a large gathering of Garo people in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills.
Addressing the gathering, Sangma expressed that the Youth Policy will address the issues of the youth pertaining to their education, employment, and their personality development.
“Every department of Central Government will make a provision of 10 percent budget of their ministry for youth development, under the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhivan scheme that envisages the creation of an indoor auditorium in every 6500 blocks of the country and provision of sufficient budget to organize sports activities at block, district and state level”, Sangma said.
