SHILLONG/TURA: While there is an increase of 40 more candidates compared to last year for HSSLC examinations which began on Tuesday, 1548 more students than last year are writing their SSLC examinations which began on Wednesday.
There are a total of 27278 candidates appearing for HSSLC examinations, while the total number of SSLC students is 43,629.
The examination which is being conducted in different parts of the State is being closely monitored by MBOSE officials to prevent any foul play among the students so as to ensure a clean and fair examination.
Altogether 17 zones have been set up in the State for the examination with MBOSE observers. In addition to ensuring smooth and fair conduct of the examination. Magistrates and high ranking MBOSE officials have been working tirelessly prior to its commencement.
In Garo Hills, a few years back the Board officials had caught a handful of students from Selsella examination centre in West Garo Hills who had indulged in cheating. To prevent such incidents from happening again, special police teams have been dispatched to ‘Red Listed Centres’ of the state.
This year, there are a total of 50 Red Listed Centres in the state with a majority of them being in the plain belt areas of Garo Hills. Further, to ensure easy transportation during inspections of the Centres, special vehicles have also been issued to the officials concerned.
The Executive Chairman of MBOSE, E P Kharbih, has urged the candidates to take the examination in a clean and fair manner.
“To prevent any kind of foul play and the use of unfair means during the examination, officials have been deputed to closely monitor it. They have been instructed to immediately expel anyone indulging in the same,” he said.
