Tainted ex-JHADC chief records statement

JOWAI: The tainted former JHADC chief MB Rymbai, who was re-elected from Khliehtyrshi -Sohmynting constituency in the recently held JHADC election, appeared before the Officer In charge Police station for recording his statement in connection with the alleged misappropriation of JHADC fund up to the tune of Rs. 1.18 crore on Tuesday.

Informing this, West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police, Herbert G Lyngdoh said “We are still investigating the case and we hope to speed up the investigation process so that the case is charge sheeted at the earliest.”

Rymbai was arrested on February 26. Police had to release him immediately since he had already procured anticipatory bail from the High Court.

JSU, JYF threaten stir: Meanwhile, several prominent pressure groups from Jaintia Hills namely the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) and the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) have threatened to resort agitation if the government failed to take action against MB Rymbai for his alleged involvement in multi-crore scam in JHADC.
