Kohima: The Nagaland State BJP delegation met the Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar on Friday last at the Raj Bhavan at Kohima and apprised the issues pertaining to the National Highways (NH) maintained by Border Road Organization (BRO), Indian Airlines, Railways and Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Kohima. In a release last night Nagaland BJP General Secretary and Spokesman K. James Vizo said that recalling the assurance given by the Governor last September 2013 to take the matter to the appropriate authorities at the Centre with regard to infrastructure building such as Roads-under BRO & NH, Railways, and Communication of BSNL, the party delegation lamented that there has been hardly any improvement, except some improvement in the roads.
Therefore, the party appealed to the Governor again to urgently take up these matters with the Central Government. While interacting, the Party President Dr M. Chuba Ao also expressed its resentment over the quality and the workmanship of the BRO and at the same time resurfacing which has halted its work near police check gate Dimapur.
It was also learned that the Central is yet to approved the work of about 18 KMS at Kohima and 12 KMS at Dimapur to be handed from BRO to PWD.
The party recalled that When the Party delegation met the BRO Chief Engineer Sewak (BRO), Vinod Kumar on 20th October 2013, he stated that the road from Dimapur to Mao gate will be completed by 31st March, does he meant by march 2015.
Therefore, in this regard, the party would like to seek the clarification from the BRO.
The party further stated that one can easily notice the difference of the quality of work done on the roads of Manipur and Nagaland the moment we cross Jessemi to Phek district, the work carried out by the same RCC of the BRO under the same commander or officer, yet the differences of workmanship and quality is quite visible.
The party seriously views the indifferent attitude of the BRO in Nagaland, the State cannot be deprived too long, it needs to be treated in equality at par with other States in India. On Air lines, they party expressed its disappointment, for cutting down the service to 5 times a week.
And on Railways, it demand for more reservation quota and the urgent need to construct the platform number 2 and 3. On the DDK Kohima, the party has expressed the need to improve the infrastructures and acute shortage of manpower in the Kendra, which has been functioning without a regular Director or Station Director.
