TURA: Congress candidate Daryl William Cheran Momin took his election battle to the very place that Purno A Sangma visited two days ago by organizing campaign programmes in the Tikrikilla and Raksamgre belt on Tuesday.

Daryl along with Congress workers and supporters descended on Tikrikilla and Raksamgre constituencies in the northern tip of West Garo Hills District just two days after Sangma had organised a successful election campaign in which a large number of voters descended on Raksamgre to hear the veteran politician speak.

In his speech, Sangma had highlighted the insurgency problem in Garo Hills and spoke in support of Garoland.

Daryl, on the other hand, is hoping to do a one up on the former Lok Sabha Speaker by putting across to the voters the need for development and stability and highlighting the works done by the Congress party.

On Tuesday he camped out in Tikrikilla-Raksamgre for one night to get a feel of the people’s views and requirements.

As Daryl was engrossed in campaign meetings in Tikrikilla region, his opponent (Sangma) was in the western most part of South West Garo Hills district holding as many as four election meetings in Purakhasia and Mahendraganj constituencies.

Interestingly, Mahendraganj is the legislative constituency of Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma’s wife Dikanchi D Shira.

The same constituency is also home to both Purno Sangma and his wife.

Sangma was born in Chapahati village while his wife’s family turf is Nogorpara villag
