JOWAI: A 26-year-old mentally-challenged woman was abducted from Lad-Jalyiah, East Jaintia Hills by three unidentified truck drivers who reportedly raped her on the way to Riat Puriang on Sunday, a delayed report said on Wednesday.

A source informed that after raping her, the accused abandoned her on the roadside.

“Mawryngkneng Police engaged in patrolling duty found the woman and took her to Mawryngkneng Police Station and later sent her for medical checkup which confirmed the rape,” the source said.

Following a complaint lodged by a relative of the victim, police have begun their investigation.
