Yet another life lost in EJH ‘death pits’

JOWAI: In the latest case of mine mishap in East Jaintia Hills District of the State, a coal labourer identified as Md. Parbul Haque (22) of Nagaon, Assam, died on the spot when a coal mine located at Lumthari village in the district collapsed on Monday.

Sources informed that the victim was in a 200-feet deep coal pit when the mine suddenly collapsed at around 8:30 am on Monday. Falling boulders hit the labourer killing him on the spot.

The mine supervisor informed the mine owner, Wel Bamon who later lodged a complaint with Saipung Police.

The cadaver was handed over to the relative after post-mortem examination. Police have registered a regular case in this regard.
