SHILLONG: Khatarshnong and Mylliem blocks won the girls’ and boys’ titles, respectively, on the final day of the East Khasi Hills District Level Under-12 Football Tournament, held at Third Ground, Polo, on Friday morning.
In the first final, Khatarshnong had to come from a goal behind to beat Mawsynram 3-1.
Matibahun Umdor opened the scoring in the 13th minute for Mawsynram, before Nisilia Majaw recorded a brace for Khatarshnong in the 21st and 34th minutes to see her team take the lead.
Marbarin Nongrum then made it 3-1 in the 47th minute.
Later, Mylliem won the boys’ trophy with a 3-0 victory over Mawphlang.
Batskhem Thangkhiew scored in the 17th minute before Remark Kharmalki doubled the lead five minutes later.
Damewanshan Nengnong put the match beyond doubt with his goal before the final whistle.
Dignitaries present during the prize distribution ceremony were SS Rapthap, Meghalaya Football Association secretary, George Lyngdoh, East Khasi Hills District Sports Officer, Andrew Umdor, Meghalaya Referee’s Board secretary, and Bobby L Nongbet, state football coach.
