DHAKA: English woman cricketer Danielle Wyatt has no clue about who Anushka Sharma is but she definitely had the micro-blogging site Twitter abuzz as she proposed marriage to India’s top batsman Virat Kohli. India clinch doubles match, lead 2-1 in Davis Cup

Busan (Korea): India stood one win away from securing a berth in the World Group play-offs after Rohan Bopanna and Saketh Myneni defeated Hyung-Taik Lee and Lim Yong-Kyu in the crucial doubles match of their second round Asia/Oceania Group I tie against Korea, here on Saturday. Bopanna and Myneni prevailed 7-6 (4), 5-7, 7-6 (2), 6-3 to give India a 2-1 lead after day one had ended 1-1. “Great effort and win by @rohanbopanna and saketh to get the doubles point and give us a 2 1 lead. way to go boys. #DavisCup #TeamIndia,” tweeted Sanam Singh, who had lost in the opening singles yesterday, after the match. Pairing up for only the second time in their career, Bopanna and Myneni staved off the challenge posed by Hyung-Taik and Lim in a see-saw battle which became lop-sided by the fourth set. India are now on the verge of beating Korea for the first time in an away tie. They also have a chance to improve on the overall head-to-head record which stands at 3-6. The last time the two teams played was in 2013 when the Koreans beat India 4-1 in New Delhi in the absence of top players, who boycotted the tie. India are coming into this tie after having blanked Taipei 5-0 while the hosts had got a bye in the first round as one of the top seeds and are seeking a World Group play-off berth for the first time since 2008. Bengaluru FC under pressure ahead of Mohun Bagan match

Kolkata: With their lead cut to one-point, I-League leaders Bengaluru FC will be under pressure when they take on Mohun Bagan in an away fixture at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan here on Sunday. Following Salgaocar’s 2-1 win over Pune yesterday, Bengaluru’s lead at the top is now down to just one point, but like them Mohun Bagan too are under pressure to get a win for their I-League survival. That the I-League debutantes have their remaining three fixtures away will make things difficult as they do not boast of a good record away with four wins in nine outings. In Mohun Bagan, who won 3-1 away at Sporting Clube two weeks ago, Bengaluru FC will have a tough opposition as the Karim Bencherifa-coached side is currently six points clear of the drop zone and will aim to finish in the top half winning their last three. The Ashley Westwood-coached side has won its last two away outings in Kolkata and the Englishman is confident going into the round 24 fixture in the business end. In the first-leg, both sides played out a 1-1 draw in the opening weekend of the season in September last year in a maiden fixture for Bengaluru. Since then the I-League debutantes have been on a dream run as they are three wins away from clinching the title. But Westwood said he likes it more when the team is travelling. “We got three away games which suits me, because we travel, we know where the boys are, we know what they are eating, we know what they are up to, which just makes the whole thing a bit more controlled without being a control freak if you like,” he said.
