NONGSTOIN: The FKJGP Diangsyiang Area Unit in a letter to the District Tourism Officer (DTO) West Khasi Hills District has appealed for beautification of the tourist spots around Nongkhnum Island of West Khasi Hills District.

In the letter they mentioned that the approach roads to Nongkhnum Island, Riatsohkhai Falls, Weinia Falls and the bridge to Phanliang Falls were in a pitiable condition and needed urgent repair.

It may be mentioned that the bridge to Phanliang Falls was in a critical condition and after the monsoon this year it will be impossible to cross the bridge. The federation also urged the DTO to construct foot-paths, view points and resort for the convenience of the tourists.

D Marthong President of the Federation said, “West Khasi Hills District has a huge potential in the tourism sector and if maintained properly it will give the much needed boost to the State’s coffer as well.”
