SHILLONG: Laban Bengalee School and Garo Union School delivered upsets of sorts in the U-19 Inter School Cricket Tournament semifinals at the Cricket Ground, Polo, on Friday, by beating St Anthony’s and St Edmund’s, respectively.
St Anthony’s won the toss and batted first , scoring only 130/7 in the allotted 25 overs.
Eddyson Sohkhlet top-scored with 28, while Rohit Limbu bagged 2-11 in four overs.
In reply, Laban Bengalee reached the target in 21.2 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Suprio hammered 41 runs off 26 balls, while Amarjeet Yadav also contributed 41 to the total.
Garo Union almost won by the same margin, crossing the line with six wickets in hand against St Edmund’s, who also chose to bat first.
They were skittled for just 91 runs in 20 overs, however, with Rahul Singh making 22.
Tengsrang A Marak took 2-13 in four overs as well as scoring 28 runs in the chase.
Garo Union polished off the required runs in 16.1 overs.
They will meet Laban Bengalee School in the final on Tuesday.
