SHILLONG: The State CID branch has taken serious note of the attempts by certain unscrupulous people who are associated with the scam-tainted CMJ University to bribe certain public officials in an attempt to coerce them to refrain from exposing their name.

“We have received information that there is an attempt to bribe public officials by those who are involved with the tainted University. Majority of them do not want their names to be exposed,” a senior official of the CID branch told newsmen on Friday.

The senior official added that anyone with information about people who are closely associated with the University should immediately inform the CID official.

“We would not hesitate in taking action against any public official who accept bribe,” the official added.
