Attempted rape

A woman lodged a complaint at Jowai PS that on May 17 around 11.30 am, one Nabas Sten (50) attempted to rape her 12-year-old daughter at Niawkmai village (WJH). Police arrested the accused.

Domestic violence

One Jonila Khatoon of Sulaiman Compound, Lumdiengjri, lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri police station that her husband Imtiaz Ali tortured her mentally and physically since their marriage and also demanded dowry Rs. 1,50,000 from her. On April 27, he attempted to murder her by strangulation. As a result, she sustained injuries.

lOne Seema Das lodged a complaint that her husband Moloy Das used to assault her and took money from her. On May 17 at around 7 pm, he along with his mother forcibly took her 9-year-old daughter from her mother’s house at Keating Road, Shillong and till date her whereabouts is not known.

Driver shot at

On May 13 at around 1 am, unidentified armed miscreants opened fire at one truck (AS-18C-1408) driven by Md. Rezabul Hoque (25) near Nengkhra, NH-62 (EGH) and robbed the driver of Rs. 30,000. As a result, the driver sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital, Williamnagar and later referred to Goalpara Solace Hospital, Assam.

Threat

On May 20 at about 9.30 am, Victoria Sangma (19) of Bishop Cotton Road, Shillong received an anonymous call in her cell phone, in which the caller threatened her. Matter is under enquiry.

lJesty Tesrang A Sangma, Forest Range Officer, GHADC, Tura lodged a complaint at Tura PS that on April 30, 2014, the GHADC Forest Range personnel detained five Assam bound coal laden trucks AS-01-DC-8109, ML-08C-8839, AS-01AC-3121, AS-01C-4066 and AS-18C-4355 without valid documents at Phulbari Range (WGH) and issued summons to the owner, Sollay Ch. Sangma. On May 1, around 11.30 am, the truck owner along with one Simran appeared at the GHADC Forest HQ, Tura and threatened the complainant.

Theft

On the night of May 18, unknown miscreants stole two hundred litres of diesel belonging to M/S Dhar Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. from Lumlangshor Mukhla (WJH).

lOn May 16 at around 4.45 am, unknown miscreant stole forty-eight mobile tower batteries belonging to M/s Amara Raja Mobile Tower Company Ltd. at Wapung Skur (EJH).

Gun seized

On May 18, Police seized one country-made SBBL gun from the possession of one Hebath B Marak at Nengchonggre village (WGH). Police arrested the accused.

Kidnapped

On May 15 at around 8.30 pm, an unidentified person took Honen Sangma from Kitmadamgre village (NGH) as his guide towards Chigichakgre village. Next morning, relatives of Honen Sangma received a call from his mobile phone, in which an unknown caller demanded Rs. 20,00,000 as ransom for his release.

Imposter

H. Samakha, Sirdar, Hima Raid Mynsaw (WKH) lodged a complaint at Nongstoin PS that on January 25, 2014, one Astolin Nonglang of Umbyrsit village (WKH) claimed to be the Sirdar of Umbyrsit village and committed breach of peace and tranquility in the village besides illegally using the seal of Hima Rambrai instead of Hima Raid Mynsaw.

Noise pollution

Gunjan Singh and others lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar PS that noise pollution emanating from Shillong Gurudwara-2 is disturbing the students, the old sick persons and other residents of Shillong Gurudwara.

Vehicle abandoned

Regarding theft of one Maruti car (ML-05C-7050) belonging to Pynshngain Blah from Jaiaw Pdeng, Shillong. On May 18, the stolen vehicle was found abandoned at Nongumlong village (EKH).

Assault

On May 18 around 1 am, unidentified miscreants assaulted Sanjay Lamir (26) at NEHU Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was shifted to NEIGRIHMS.

lOn May 16, three persons, Riverson Kharbihkhiew (25), Richard Wahlang and their unidentified accomplices boarded one local taxi (ML-05J-7547) driven by Nukhi Singh (28 ) from Lad-Umroi (RB) and asked him to drop them at Umbir (RB). On reaching at an isolated place, they assaulted the driver. Police arrested the accused.

lOne Silbinus Sukhlain lodged a complaint at Saipung police station that on May 14 at around 9 pm, Riming Paslein and Rakhi Iakai threatened and assaulted one Augustine Sukhlain in his residence at Pala village in East Jaintia Hills and also looted Rs.1,50,000.

Drowning case

On May 17, one Tyngshainborlang Jyrwa drowned while he was fishing in Umkhen River at Diengpasoh (EKH). The matter is under enquiry.

Fraud

A woman lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that she received telephone calls from one Ajay Sharma and Anurag Patel informing her that she had won a Tata vehicle and asked her to deposit money to claim the prize. Later, between May 12 and 16, 2014 she deposited Rs. 31,500 in the accounts of the persons. However, till date she did not receive the vehicle or money.

lIn a related case, a woman lodged a complaint at Laitumkhrah PS that in the month of Februray 2014, one Benjamin Lucca of United Kingdom informed her through Facebook that he is sending a parcel for her. Later, she received a call from Delhi informing her that she has to deposit Rs. 30,000 as clearance fee for the parcel. On May 14, she deposited Rs 30,000 in the account of one Khetoka Yeptho at Axis Bank but is yet to receive any parcel.
