SHILLONG: A Block Development Officer has claimed that he had to face harassment for taking action against the engineers allegedly involved in irregularities in the implementation of several schemes in Sohra.

The harassment, the BDO said, began after he instituted a departmental probe against the junior engineers resulting in their suspension.

As per the complaint lodged at Sohra police station by BDO, Shella-Bholaganj C&RD Block, Lyngkor Kynjing one Collin Kharaswai and assistant engineers were allegedly involved in serious anomalies in certain projects including the construction of the Youth Cultural Centre at Madan Seng Khasi, Sohra.

The complaint also said that the accused and the subordinate engineers did not cooperate in implementation of various construction schemes and obstructed the BDO in the discharge of his duties instead.

The complainant alleged that the accused submitted a baseless FIR against him.
