SHILLONG: The BJP youth wing has asked Home Minister Roshan Warjri to take effective steps to contain violence in Garo Hills.

In a letter addressed to the Home Minister on Tuesday, the BJP youth leaders urged the government to take effective measures ensure safety of the common man and government officials. The BJP also asked the government to ensure the safe release of a State Bank of India employee on Monday. The BJP youth leaders also sought immediate strengthening and reformation of the Meghalaya Home Department.

State president, BJYM Egenstar Kurkalang urged the government to introspect upon the reason for the failure of the police force to combat militancy.
