SHILLONG:  Thma U Rangli-Juki in collaboration with Raiot Webzine ( www.raiot.net ) is organizing a public discussion on the theme “Freedom of Speech and Expression and the Right to Offend” at the KJPA Conference Hall, IGP Point, on Friday  at 4 pm.  The programme is being organised to facilitate a discussion on the issue of free speech and censorship in light of growing repression in the form of bans on cultural expressions like film making, writing and the press, art and graffiti, music and performances coupled with growing instances of moral policing in Meghalaya.
This trend is ominously coexisting with similar instances from across the country where gags are being placed on critical thought and opinions expressed through writings and even social media interactions.
