SHILLONG: The Garo Hills State Movement Committee (GHSMC) along with AYWO, and GSU Dalu units visited various offices of Dalu recently to know their problems.

People of Dalu are facing difficulties as there is irregular electricity supply, water supply and medical care which are the most important requirements of daily life.

The NGO’s enquired from PHE about the scarcity of water and the officials said that they are doing their best and that they also depend on MeECL which is not functioning well. Health department also faces the problem of water shortage. Complaining against the carelessness and negligence by SDO of Dalu was given to the higher authorities but no action has been taken yet, the NGOs said. The PHE cannot draw enough water due to irregular power supply.

There are as many as three to four areas where there is no power. The students are the worst affected. The pressure groups of Dalu may resort to agitation against MeECL if the problem still continues to persist.
