SHILLONG: Meghalaya has been abuzz with rumours of imposition of President’s Rule in State and the Centre ordering army operations in Garo Hills.

The matter originated in a joke posted on the site bbc.com.sundaytimesdaily.com which was taken seriously by those who viewed it.

Since the post bears the logo of BBC News, many took it to be authentic, only to know later that it was a fake.

The website bbc.com.sundaytimesdaily.com has a section which allows the readers to create their own fake news and trick their friends by sharing it on Facebook, Twitter or other social networking sites.
