SHILLONG: Social Welfare Minister Deborah Marak on Wednesday said she will examine the magisterial inquiry report related to the assault of 12 girls in Tura after the report comes back from the officers.

“We have received the magisterial inquiry report in time and the Principal Secretary in charge Social Welfare, P.W. Ingty, has already forwarded the report to the Chief Secretary for examination,” Marak said.

According to the Minister, if the report is valuable, the Government will act on it, and if the report has nothing to offer, she will institute a high level inquiry.

“As I have said in the Assembly, we will first examine the magisterial inquiry report and if needed a high level inquiry will be instituted by the Social Welfare department,” Marak said.
