Tura girls torture case report ready, says MSCW

SHILLONG: The Megh-alaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) has completed its inquiry into recent illegal confinement, kidnapping and torture of 12 girls in Tura.

Informing this here on Monday, the MSCW chief Theilin Phanbuh said the commission would discuss the findings in its review meeting scheduled to be held July 10.

Subsequently, she said that the findings would be submitted to the State Government.

Earlier, five self-styled activists were arrested in this connection. The teenagers were picked up from their residences on the pretext that they were into “illegal sex trade”.
