BSF arrests HNLC worker

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) has asserted that Kyrmenskhem Sohlamar, who was arrested on Sunday, is an overground worker of proscribed HNLC.

Sohlamar, an offspring of the Khasi chief of Hima Nongstoin (late) Wickliffe Syiem, was arrested on Sunday from Rajai, a village located in the fringes of South West Khasi Hills and Sunamganj district of Bangladesh, while he was trying to enter Bangladesh.

A senior BSF official said that Sohlamar’s mother was a Bangladeshi while his father an Indian.The BSF official said that Sohlamar was a Bangladeshi citizen and he also possessed an Indian Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) from a village West Khasi Hills district.

However, no objectionable item was recovered from his possession, the official added.

The arrested person has been handed over to Ranikor police Station.
