Traffic violation

On July 19, at around 2:30 am, a Ford Ikon vehicle violated traffic rules when it refused to stop at a police signal during the Naka checking at Mawlai, Shillong. Police chased the speeding vehicle and later found it abandoned near NM Hotel at Mawiong, Shillong.

Theft

lOn July 19 at about 4:45 pm, unknown miscreants broke into the shop of one Parash Bopara near Cantonment Beat House, Shillong and stole two cell-phones valued around Rs.16,000.

lOn July 18, at about 3pm, unidentified miscreants broke into the residence of Shiv Kumari Anand (86) at Zig Zak Road, Rilbong, Shillong and snatched a gold chain away from her.

lOn the night of July 17, unknown miscreants stole twenty one batteries from a Dynamo Workshop at Saitsohpen, Sohra (EKH).

lEverland Lyngdoh, Gram Sevak of Mairang Block lodged a complaint at Mairang Outpost, that on July 17, he discovered that the official digital camera issued to him was stolen from his residence at 12th Mile, Mylliem (EKH).

Rape

On July 16, at around 10.30pm, one Pynshngainborlang Nongsiej (30) raped a thirty-two-year old woman at Wahmawpat, Mawsynram (EKH).

Illicit Trade

On July 17, at about 1pm, police intercepted one coal-laden truck (AS-01BC-0551) driven by one Nicholas Langstang at Wapung Skur (EJH).

Allegation

An unidentified source informed The Shillong Times office on Saturday night that police personnel of Umiam PS were allegedly collecting money from several trucks in UCC and other areas. The Ri Bhoi SP, CVS Reddy, denying the allegations, said that he has not received any information and added that the number of trucks plying on the road is minimal. “Who ever try to ply with coal, their trucks are being seized,” he said.
