SHILLONG: The New Age Welfare Society’s centenary celebrations program entitled “Satabdite Surer Naba Diganta”, came to a grand conclusion in Jail Road on Saturday in the Society’s premises.
A total of 50 contestants applied, 15 were short listed after the audition round. The final comprised of 7 contestants, namely Debopriya Bhattacharjee, Dipanjana Deb, Amrita Chakraborty, Bateithymmai Nongrum, Biprojit Choudhury, Kanika Sarkar & Antara Choudhury.
Dr. Indrani Sen, eminent vocalist from Kolkata was the chief judge, apart from the local panel of judges like Pinak Pani Hore, Dr. Radhendu Das and Shika Bhattacherjee.
Roshan Warjri, Minister, Home, Govt. of Meghalaya was the chief guest. Sanjay Goyal, DC, East Khasi Hills, was the guest of honour. Deepak Kr. Lala, DGM, SBI was also present among others.
Antara Choudhury was declared the winner of the competition. The second prize went to Amrita Chakraborty and Biprojit Choudhury, Bateithymmai Nongrum and Kanika Sarkar received the third, fourth and fifth prizes respectively.
