Soil and Water Conservation dept conducts interview without official notification

Mother appears for son in interview

SHILLONG: The Soil and Water Conservation department has landed into a major controversy for allegedly conducting interview for vacant Grade IV posts without official sanction.

The interview, for which no advertisement was issued, was allegedly conducted by some senior officials of the department on Friday.

Sources in the department on Sunday informed that majority of the staff are unaware about this interview except for few of the top officials.

Sources also alleged that the interview was kept under wrap since the top officials wanted to appoint their relatives to the various vacant posts.

Interestingly, sources also informed that one of the candidates who had to go for the physical efficiency test (PET) in MLP 1st Battalion headquarters at Mawlai Mawiong sent his mother for the interview.

When contacted, Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Soil and Water Conservation, Rowell Lyngdoh said that he is not aware of any such interview.

“None of the officials informed me about it,” Lyngdoh said while expressing surprise over the incident.
