Another labourer murdered in Tura

TURA: Tura police have retrieved the body of another migrant labourer found murdered in a locality of Tura on Thursday night. The killing comes less than three days after the body of another worker was found at Burny Hills area.

Locals informed Tura police about the discovery of a body at Penny Valley locality in Aglanggre area of Tura on Thursday.

When police teams arrived at the spot they found the body of migrant worker Saidul Islam (45) who hails from Mankachar. His throat had reportedly been slit.

Unconfirmed reports indicated that the worker was abducted at gunpoint from one of the construction sites in a locality of Tura town. Police are investigating the crime.

Earlier, on Monday another labourer was murdered in Burny Hills locality while enroute to his home town with some money for his family.

CM reviews law & order: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma reviewed overall law and order situation in the state with senior state government officials on Wednesday evening.

According to an official source, the security preparation in view of the Independence day celebrations was discussed in the meeting.

The meeting also reviewed the law and order situation in Garo Hills in the wake of spurt in killing and kidnapping cases.

The official source said that operations against the militants were going on in full swing in Garo Hills.

According to the official, the State Government is also prepared to thwart any attempt of HNLC militants to disrupt the Independence day celebrations.
